15 minutes. 101 from san francisco to san francisco is a short 16-minute ride. outside, san jose is looking nice, too, so northbound 280 beyond 17. here is 17 in the dark and it is empty. eric and kristen? >> developing news, investigators in los angeles are trying to determine why a gunman would hunt down t.s.a. agents with deadly intent. this morning, an agent is dead and several are still injured and the suspect himself is in critical condition. right now he is unable to answer investigators' questions. >> abc7 news has learned paul off the airport thinking he had an airplane to catch.

he started shooting when he got the in airplane. a teacher was among those shot in the calf shatter, his lower leg. his boss, a principal, says he has a long road ahead of him. >> his spirits are up. he still is traumaized by all of it. like all of us trying to get our arms around this. >> a family friend told the "los angeles times" he took it hard when his mother died in twine after years of battling m.s. and classmates at delaware high school where he played the french horn said he didn't reach out to anyone. >> there were few that kept to himself but he was one. >> he graduated from the motorcycle mechanics institute in 2011 and moved to los angeles looking for work. a former roommate saw nothing to fear. he was a really nice go. a bit introverted but i would

ordinance banned smoking down and in open airspaces. they need to gather 4,000 signatures for each initiative in order to get them on the ball the loment. >> what do you think of oakland playing in san francisco at the giants' ballpark? the a's have the lease at their coliseum in the air. amy? >> you could be seeing green and yellow at at&t park. the oakland a's struggling to reach a lease agreement at the coliseum, major league baseball is stepping in and saying, it has an idea: how about moving the a's over to at&t park? there are multiple reports this morning saying major league baseball is suggesting that. the a's contract negotiations have been going on for six months. major league baseball says they need to step in and assign them to a stadium so though can set the schedule and let opponents

know where they will be playing. the idea to take the team to san francisco. neither team has commented on the reports. >> president obama maps to make a stop in the bay area again later this month and will visit san francisco for a democratic national committee fundraiser as the jazz center on november 25th. this will mark the 4th time this year president obama has visited the bay area. it is the 16th time he has visited san francisco since taking office back in 2009. >> tomorrow is election day and some of the issues include murphy -- include a measure fee and in restrictions on guns with self city council races on the ballot. check out our voter resources guide on abc7news.com for more

information. >> mike, hour the temperature numbers? >> all over from the place from cool conditions this morning in the 30's inland, to mid-to-upper 40's around the coast and bay. we will see a lot more sunshine and it will be brighter today than yesterday so it will be warmer. low-to-mid 60's through the lunch hour and milder there. we have temperatures that will run from 68 at the beaches and inland and a few high clouds and cooling quickly 7:00 at mid-50's to, around, say, 60 degrees. the next three days, today is the going of the warming trend and well warm two to four degrees tomorrow and another two to four degrees on wednesday and it stops, with a cooler trend and could be a repeat of what we lived through with a few more chances of showers. that is coming up. but, first, the commute with leyla gulen. >> with the exception of a couple of projects still in

effect most of the construction has cleared across the bay area and i want to let you know that 39 birth trains are running on time so there are no delays. in 9 north bay headed through fairfield, eastbound, along 580, looking clear and westbound not too bad headed into american canyon. to the south through hercules through richmond, you can see you are in good shape. our bay bridge toll plaza shows the traffic is running smoothly. a few cars were backing up but now that is cleared. from emeryville camera to the bay bridge, the traffic is moving well headed into treasure island. in the eastbound direction, though, from the anchorage to the tower we will see a couple of lanes taken away lasting until 2:00 a.m. the afternoon commute could be slow.

this is abc7 news. >> it is 5:12. a scary scene on sunday night football at head coach gary kubiak collapsed at half time and was taken off the shield on a stretcher. the texans said he did not have a heart attack. he felt light headed and dizzy but was talking to paramedics. he is expected to be released from the hospital today. >> a new york university student is recovering this morning after being stuck in a 2' gap define an nyu dorm and a garage. workers breached a concrete wall to gain access to the 19-year-old yesterday. he was stuck in the space between the dom and the garage for two days. it took workers an hour to pull him out. officials conducted a search for him after the friends reported him missing on saturday.

negotiation problems at the coliseum. the lease has expired and the team would like to play there until issues whether they can go to san jose or stay in oakland with a new stadium are worked out. now the idea has come sharing at&t park. reports say that major league baseball needs to set their schedule. they need to let opponents where they will play. major league baseball needs the stadium assigned and is thinking about at&t park. the giants have to accept it. what major league baseball says, goes. neither team has commented on the reports. >> new this morning, a person in a motorized wheelchair is dead after being hit by a car in san francisco at a crosswalk near market street around midnight. authorities say the driver who hit the man remained at the scene and is cooperating with

investigators. the victim was taken to the hospital but was pronounced dead. the accident remains under investigation. >> new details in the deadly shooting rampage at l.a.x. that left an officer dead with the t.s.a. the gunman said he acted alone. abc7 news learned it was the unsuspecting roommate of the 23-year-old paul ciancia that dropped him off believing he had to catch a flight. he is accused of shooting and killing the t.s.a. officer hernandez and wounding two other t.s.a. employees and a high school teacher. people would say he was shy. >> he kept to himself. always walking around by himself. he did not talk to anyone, at all. >> he was a really nice guy. he was a bit introverted but nothing i would ever, ever

expect. >> ciancia is under armed guard and sedated at the hospital after being shot by the airport police. >> jetblue believes they did the right thing after a passenger yelled threats on the way to san francisco. the airline said it was faster to continue to sfo and have the police here detain the passenger rather than divert. a passenger on the flight shared this cell phone video of san francisco police boarding the plan and detaining the man. patrick alexander felt more could have been done after what happened at lax the day before. >> i felt security would be at its highest and when someone says the plane will go down, the plane will be destroyed, immediate action would be taken to get the plane back to the gate and have the man removed. >> officers searched the plane and the luggage and determined it was no credible threat. three was escorted off the plane and arrested on suspicion of public intoxication.

>> happening today the city council of pleasanton hills will consider regulating firearms and ammunition sales. the contra could not have the ammunition stores sold in the area. dealers will have to install surveillance equipment and ina alarm system. >> the woman charged with running over and killing a menlo park couple walking their dog will be in court today. marjorie reitzell was driving drunk when she hit the couple. he has had several court appearances canceled because of health problems. she was arrested last year for driving under the influence. her family says she has a long hit of drug and alcohol abuse. >> the man accused of murdering

a federal investigator great oakland will be in court. the 56-year-old randy alana is charged with strangling santa croak and -- sandra coke and strangling her. three insists he did not kill her but does not deny being at the motel where authorities think she was murdered. he has had 17 felony convictions. osmose police are investigating the 40 the homicide of the year. police say a man was shot and killed yesterday morning. the victim was taken to the hospital by the family but he did not survive. a suspect was taken into custody. the victim and suspect knew each other. >> amtrak riders in the central valley this morning after being delayed for several hours. officials say a train going to fresno from the bay area head an engine failure causing it to

of the bay bridge this week. workers will we move some sections of the old bridge tomorrow or wednesday. in six weeks almost 1,500' should be demolished. the entire demolition will take three years and cost $300 million. >> we are hearing from one of the 14 seniors rescued from the nursing home shut down by the state. the woman is relieved to be out of the manor there only since late august. in a short period they realized they were not getting the best of care. >> it was bad. we didn't get our meds when we were supposed to. one day i got my morning meds at 1:00 o'clock in the afternoon. >> the state ordered the nursing home closed a week and a half ago. the staff walked out leaving only a janitor, a cook, and a caregiver to tend to the residents. the facility's owner denies they

were neglected. >> police are stepping up patrols at uc berkeley a spike in robberies. there have been three incidents on the campus since wednesday and more than a dozen muggings in just the last month. on thursday, an 18-year-old woman was grabbed from behind by a man while the accomplice pulled a gun on her and took her phone and went through the purse. being aware is the best way to keep from becoming a target. >> students do not know the safest thing is not be on your phone while you are walk to put your phone away, take out the ear buds. >> a spokesman said there are campus escorts but many students do not know about them. >> gas prices are at the lowest legal of year dropping 11 length as gallon in october. the regular rice was $3.28 in

two and concord and fremont are four degrees warmer. yesterday's area of disturbed weather is sliding to the south with a few showers possible an los angeles and the hills of san diego. high pressure behind me on the left side of the scene and that will dominate our weather today and tomorrow. that is why we will see the warming trend. >> mid-to-upper 60's to the south bay with san jose at 67, gilroy is the warm spot at 69 and sunnyvale is coolest at 64. the peninsula is san mateo at 63 up to 68 in redwood city and at the cost, upper 50's to near 60 in the sun then setting. so many fires on the beach and it was neat. mid-60's around downtown, south san francisco, and sausalito and mid-to-upper 60's through the north bay valley and upper 50's along your coastline from 65 in berkeley to 68 in oakland.
